SACRO-CRANIAL
THERAPY
Sacro-Cranial Therapy is an extension of osteopathy documented by Dr. Sutherland and later developed by Dr. John Upleger.
Sacro-Cranial Therapy is a gentle, relaxing and non-invasive manual therapy. It aims to detect and correct imbalances in the sacro-cranial system.
These imbalances are often imperceptible to the naked eye and are due to the alteration of a system of fascias that, over time, lead to changes in micro-circulation, restrictions and adhesions. In continuity, they can cause structural, mechanical and neurological dysfunctions, which interfere with the patient's quality of life.
The sacro-cranial rhythm can be felt throughout the body in a clear and objective way, just as the rhythm of the cardiovascular and respiratory system is felt. The treatment is mainly applied to the bony structures of the head and sacrum, an area easily accessible to the pulsation of the dura rhythm.
What differentiates the sacro-cranial rhythm from other rhythms is that it can be evaluated and corrected, thus promoting the balance of the sacro-cranial system.
The objective of Sacro-Cranial Therapy is to free structures from existing restrictions.
This technique consists of applying a soft touch. The hands are positioned along several points of the sacrum-cranial axis, while the patient is lying on the couch, relaxed and dressed in comfortable clothing.
This subtle technique can be applied to anyone, it has no known contraindication, even in newborns who cry a lot. It is a technique that should be used frequently to rebalance the body, or as a preventive treatment, allowing to enjoy numerous benefits.
Some of the many situations in which this therapy can play an important role are:
